SSC CGL Tier 1 Results - What's Next?

SSC CGL Result for the Tier 1 exam held from 3rd to 9th March 2020 will be released by the Staff Selection Commission anytime soon. What's next after the declaration of result? What must be your next step after the SSC CGL Tier 1 result is declared? SSC will release the list of candidates who have qualified the Tier 1 exam.

After the list of candidates have been uploaded on the website of the commission, the selected candidates will be required to appear for the SSC CGL Tier 2 exam. It consists of 4 papers, 2 of which are compulsory for all candidates whereas the other 2 subjects are to be opted by candidates for specific posts. Tier 2 exam is the most important stage of SSC CGL as it contributes the maximum marks to the overall selection process. It will be conducted by SSC from 14th to 17th October 2020. Candidates must not wait for any further and start preparing for the SSC CGL Tier 2 examination.

SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam

The SSC CGL Tier 2 exam consists of 4 subjects namely Quantitative Ability, English Language and Comprehension, Statistics and General Studies (Finance and Economics). Paper 1 and Paper 2 must be attempted by all candidates and is compulsory. The other two papers are optional to be attempted by candidates opting for specific posts.

Candidates qualifying in the CGL Tier 2 exam will appear for SSC CGL Tier 3 exam that consists of a descriptive test. The details of SSC CGL Tier 3 are as given below.

Q. Is there any negative marking in CGL Tier 2 Exam?
In Tier 2, there will be a negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer in Paper-II (English Language and Comprehension) and of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I, Paper-III and Paper-IV.

Q. Are Paper III and IV compulsory?
In Tier-II, Paper-I and Paper-II are compulsory for all the posts. Paper III is only for candidates who opted for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Paper-IV will be for candidates who opted for Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer

Q. What is the time duration for each paper?
The candidates will be provided 2 hours for each paper.

Q. What is the time duration of each paper for physically handicapped students in Tier-II exam?

For physically handicapped students, the cumulative time to complete the Tier-II exam is increased to 2 hours 40 minutes.
