SSC FCI Assistant (Grade- III) Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Eligibility





SSC Assistant Grade III Syllabus, Exam Pattern & Selection Procedure: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recruits Assistant Grade III Posts in General, Depot, Technical and Account Cadres in the FCI. 






Paper I (Post Codes A, B, C, D) – Higher Secondary Level will include:


  1. General Intelligence
  2. • General Awareness
  3. • Quantitative Aptitude
  4. • English Language



  •  General Intelligence:  This component may include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc. The topics are, Semantic Analogy, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Figural Analogy, Semantic Classification, Symbolic/Number Classification, Figural Classification, Semantic Series, Number Series,  Figural Series, Problem Solving, Word Building, Coding & de-coding, Numerical Operations, symbolic Operations, Trends, Space Orientation, Space Visualization, Venn Diagrams, Drawing inferences, Punched hole/pattern – folding & un-folding, Figural Pattern – folding and completion, Indexing, Address matching, Date & city matching, Classification of centre codes/roll numbers, Small & Capital letters/numbers coding, decoding and classification, Embedded Figures, Critical thinking, Emotional Intelligence, Social Intelligence.

  • General Awareness:  Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity & Scientific Research

  • Quantitative Aptitude: The scope of the test will be computation of whole numbers, decimals, fractions and relationships between numbers, Percentage. Ratio & Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Alligation, Time and distance, Time & Work, Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra & Elementary surds, Graphs of Linear Equations, Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles, Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons , Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square base, Trigonometric ratio, Degree and Radian Measures, Standard Identities, Complementary angles, Heights and Distances, Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar diagram & Pie chart.

  • English Language: Candidate‘s ability to understand correct English, his basic comprehension and writing ability.




Paper – II (Post Codes A, B and D) – Higher Secondary Level will include



  1. Quantitative Methods
  2. • English Language & Comprehension



  •   Quantitative Methods: The scope of the test will be the computation of whole numbers, decimals, fractions and relationships between numbers, Percentage. Ratio & Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Alligation, Time and distance, Time & Work, Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra & Elementary surds, Graphs of Linear Equations, Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles, Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square base, Trigonometric ratio, Degree and Radian Measures, Standard Identities, Complementary angles, Heights and Distances, Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar diagram & Pie chart.

  •   English Language & Comprehen: Based on spot the error, fill in the blanks, synonyms, antonyms, spelling/detecting mis-spelt words, idioms & phrases, one word substitution, improvement of sentences, active/passive voice of verbs, conversion into direct/indirect narration, shuffling of sentence parts, shuffling of sentences in a passage, close passage & comprehension passage.


Paper III (Post Code C) (Degree Level)


  • Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering,  Botany, Zoology, Bio-technology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Food Science and Technology.


SSC Assistant Grade III Eligibility Information



1. Nationality: A candidate should be a citizen of India.
2. Age: Candidates’ age should not be more than 27 years.
3. Age Relaxation:
  • i. 5 years in case of SC/ST candidates
  • ii. 3 years for OBC candidates.
  • iii. 10 years in case of PH candidates.
  • iv. 15 years for PWD candidates belonging to SC/ST.
  • v. 13 yrs for PWD candidates belonging to OBC.
  • vi. Age is additionally relaxable by 5 years for those applicants who had ordinarily been domiciled in the Kashmir Division in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period 01-01-1980 to 31-12-1989.
  • vii. For Ex-servicemen the upper age limit shall be relaxed by allowing the deduction of length of actual military service from his actual age and the resultant age should not exceed the maximum age limit prescribed for the post by more than 3 years(8 years in case of SC/ST; 6 years in case of OBC candidates)


4. Educational Qualification: 
  • For AG III (Generel): Graduate Degree in any discipline from a recognized University with proficiency in use of computers.



  • For AG-III (Accounts): Bachelor of Commerce from a recognized University with proficiency in use of computers.



  • For AG-III (Technical): i. B.Sc in Agriculture/Botany/Zoology/Bio-Technology/Bio-Chemistry/Microbiology/Food Science from a recognized University.
  • B.Tech./BE in Food Science/Food Science & Technology/Agricultural Engineering/Bio-Technology from a recognized University/an institution approved by AICTE.
ii. Proficiency in use of Computers.


  • For AG-III (Depot): Graduate Degree in any discipline from a recognized University with proficiency in use of computers.



SSC Assistant Grade 3 Selection Process


SSC Assistant Grade III  Selection Procedure: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recruits Assistant Grade III Posts in General, Depot, Technical and Account Cadres in the FCI. 


  • Selection Procedure: Staff Selection Commission Selection Process is based on Written Test and Computer Proficiency Test (CPT).



  • Written Examination: The written exam will consist of two papers (Paper I & II) for General, Depot and Accounts Cadres posts and candidates applying for Technical Cadre will appear in Paper-I and Paper-III. The examination in paper III will be of degree level.  Paper I and II will be of Higher Secondary Level.

  • Computer Proficiency Test: Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) consists of Word Processing and Excel will also be held for candidates short listed on the basis of Paper-I and Paper-II/ Paper-III. Qualifying marks in word processing may be prescribed by the SSC at its discretion for evaluation of Excel Scripts, in which a separate qualifying standard will be prescribed.



  • Final Selection: Candidates who qualify in the Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) will be eligible to be considered for final selection. Final selection will be on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in written Examination.
